Losing the Magic of Movie Theaters
Losing the Magic of Movie Theaters
The best part of watching a movie is the experience of watching it with others. There is just something so magical and nostalgic about sitting in a theater surrounded by a bunch of people. The collective silence during a tense moment, the laughter after a funny joke, and the synchronized gasp during a jump scare create such a unique and joyful experience for everyone. The shared reactions and emotions amplify the moment and make the whole film much more enjoyable. The booming speakers, giant silver screen, and popcorn smell brings such a sense of nostalgia that helps people completely engross themselves in the film. When watching a movie in a theater, you become completely detached from reality, which is the best part of watching a film.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit a few years ago, everyone was stuck in their houses and all movie theaters were closed. During this time, streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime were at their peak. After the pandemic, I think that everyone realized how much easier and cheaper it is just to stay at home and stream a film instead of going to a theater and paying a huge amount of money on tickets and snacks. While it is convenient to have all movies at the press of a button, it takes away the magic of watching a film with a bunch of strangers and experiencing every emotion together.
I agree! Going to a movie theater is the best way to watch a movie. Everything about the movie theater is such a fun experience, especially the snacks. I also think COVID has such a negative impact on movie theaters, especially because no one was able to go to movies. Now everything is so expensive and it is easier to watch at home. However, going to a movie theater is a fun treat every now and then!
